House of Irvine triumphant in the annual Crathes Inter-clan Croquet contest.
The fourth Inter-clan Croquet contest was held on the lawn at Crathes Castle on August 2nd. The evening was hosted by the Aberdeen and Crathes Croquet Club and organisation, instruction and adjudication, as required, by Bill Strachan and Brian Clark of the club and whose involvement was much appreciated.
8 teams competed. House of Gordon; Clan Strachan; Clan Fraser; Clan Irvine; Clan Mackenzie; (who temporarily co-opted from the Burnetts); House of Burnett and two teams from Clan Hay. Teams included players from France and North America.
The results were as follows
Winner and Gold medal – House of Irvine
Silver Medal – Clan Strachan
Bronze Medal – Clan Hay “A”
Highest Scoring Team – House of Burnett 18 hoops out of the evening total of 93
Runner up – House of Irvine 15
Third – Clan Hay “A” 13
